Customer Sync

If you’ve been using Mollie before connecting it to PayRequest, Customer Sync pulls your existing Mollie customer records into PayRequest and links them to your PayRequest customers β€” matched by email address.
Customer Sync lives on the Mollie Customers page in your dashboard, and requires a connected Mollie account.

How Matching Works

1

Mollie customers are fetched

PayRequest pulls your Mollie customer list in pages of 50, storing each one (name, email, locale, metadata) as a Mollie Customer record.
2

PayRequest checks for an existing match

For each Mollie customer with an email address, PayRequest looks for a PayRequest customer with the same email under your account.
3

No match: a new PayRequest customer is created

A new customer is created using the Mollie customer’s name, email, and locale. Its internal notes field is set to record the Mollie customer ID it was synced from, for traceability.
4

Match found: missing fields are filled in

If a PayRequest customer with that email already exists, Customer Sync only fills in fields that are currently empty (name, language) β€” it never overwrites data you’ve already entered.
Sync is one-way: Mollie β†’ PayRequest. Changes you make to a customer in PayRequest are not pushed back to Mollie.

Running a Sync

  • First visit: if you land on the Mollie Customers page with zero customers and Mollie already connected, a sync starts automatically.
  • Manual sync: click Sync on the Mollie Customers page at any time to pull the latest data. This also enables ongoing sync on your Mollie connection if it wasn’t already on.
  • Sync runs as a background job β€” the page shows a toast confirming it started, and the last sync time is displayed once it completes.
Syncing large customer lists is paginated automatically β€” if there are more pages of customers, PayRequest queues the next page a couple of seconds later to avoid hitting Mollie’s rate limits.

Fixing Mismatched Customers

If Mollie customer records end up with no owner or the wrong owner (for example after reconnecting Mollie under a different account), the Mollie Customers page detects this and shows a fix option to correct the ownership.

Exporting Synced Customers

The Mollie Customers page has its own CSV export of the customers Mollie has returned (name, email, metadata) β€” separate from the account-wide export covered in Data Import & Export.

Synced customers have their internal notes field populated with the source Mollie customer ID, stored on the record for traceability.
